APBCo and Various Legal Aid Organizations File Amicus Briefs re Cy Pres Awards

The Association of Pro Bono Counsel, in collaboration with various national legal services organizations, filed two Amicus Briefs recently regarding Cy Pres awards.

In Berentson et.al. v. Provide Commerce et. al., on appeal to the 9th Circuit from the U.S.D.C. – S.D.C.A., No. 3:09-cv-2094, McDermott Will & Emery LLP submitted the brief on behalf of the following organizations:

National Legal Aid and Defender Association, the Association of Pro Bono Counsel, Legal Aid Association of California and 24 of its member organizations, the California Bar Foundation, Equal Rights Advocates, Family and Children’s Law Center, Columbia Legal Services, Hawaii Justice Foundation, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Montana Justice Foundation, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Washoe Legal Services, and the William E. Morris Institute for Justice.

In re Google, Inc. Cookie Placement Consumer Privacy Litigation, on appeal to the 3rd Circuit from the U.S.D.C. – D. DE, Pepper Hamilton LLP submitted the brief on behalf of the following organizations:

National Legal Aid and Defender Association; The Association of Pro Bono Counsel; Philadelphia Bar Foundation; Community Legal Services; Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc.; Legal Services of New Jersey; and Community Legal Aid Society, Inc.
